Brocade has always carried meaning.

For thousands of years, woven silk was reserved for emperors and ceremonies — a fabric that held power, protection, and blessing.

We bring that tradition to Kyoto, handcrafted into accessories you can wear every day.

Our Story

Our Story — A Chinese maker in Kyoto.

I came to Kyoto because I fell in love with its quietness — the temples, the seasons, the way beauty here is never loud.

I brought with me Song brocade from China — one of the most ancient woven silks in the world, once worn only by royalty. In Kyoto's flea markets, I discovered something unexpected: people stopped. They touched the fabric. They asked where it came from.

That first market day it rained. I was nervous. I sold ¥54,900 worth of accessories.

JOFAE is what happened next.
