The Open Fan
A small form, an opening view.
A fan spreads from one point, meeting a leaf, fish or floral detail. Its open surface contrasts with a slender shaft and brings that balance into an everyday updo.
The background, and our reading.
Japan’s Cultural Heritage Online describes the spreading fan as an auspicious motif associated with growth and prosperity. JOFAE translates that association into a personal sense of openness to what comes next.
